University Sports Hall

The University Arena, commonly known as the "UFO," primarily serves as a venue for physical education classes, recreational sports, and MEAFC (Miskolci Egyetemi Atlétikai és Futball Club) team practices during weekdays. Over the years, it has also hosted numerous large-scale and nationally significant sports competitions, concerts, exhibitions, and fairs.

Recent Upgrades and Features:

  • Accessibility Improvements: The arena has been made fully accessible.
  • Renovations: Refurbishments of locker room sanitary facilities and roof insulation have been completed.
  • Floor Renovation (Summer 2010): The playing surface was updated with a high-quality Gerflor Taraflex floor covering and Haro underlay, ensuring top standards for various sports.
  • Protective Coverings: New protective flooring was installed to accommodate non-sporting events.
  • Scoreboard: An international-standard scoreboard was installed for the U18 Women's Basketball European Championship held in August 2011.
  • Energy and Aesthetic Upgrades (2017): The building underwent comprehensive external and internal renovations, including energy efficiency improvements, enhancing both its aesthetics and functionality.

Thanks to these investments, the arena not only meets national standards but significantly surpasses them, offering a modern and versatile space for a wide range of events.

 

 

 

Multifunctional Sports Hall

The University Arena features a multifunctional playing area with a total floor space of 1,140 m². This versatile space is designed to accommodate a wide range of sports, including basketball, football, handball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, and more.

Key Features:

- Versatile Court Setup: The hall can be configured to support various sports, with the ability to set up standard basketball courts as well as up to three smaller courts across the width of the space simultaneously.

- Sideboards: The side-mounted backboards facilitate the creation of multiple playing areas, enhancing the flexibility of the space for different sports activities.

This setup allows the arena to efficiently meet the diverse needs of athletes and events, providing an adaptable environment for both competitive and recreational sports.

 

 

Located on the upper floor of the University Arena, the 380 m² practice hall is designed for various activities including aerobic classes, martial arts training, and smaller table tennis tournaments.

Key Features:

  • Dedicated Space: This hall is a versatile space that can be used independently from the main arena, making it suitable for a range of activities.
  • Separate Rental: The practice hall can be rented separately from the main sports court, offering flexibility for different types of events and training sessions.

 

 

The University Arena includes several additional amenities:

  • Changing Rooms: Six lockable changing rooms are available within the building, including four for men and two for women, all equipped with showers. Additionally, there are two external changing rooms for each gender, also with showers.
  • Seating: A grandstand with a capacity of 550 seats is available for spectators.
  • Meeting Room: A versatile meeting room is suitable for technical meetings, chess tournaments, receptions, and other events.
